The Power of the Mastermind - You Don’t Have to Go It Alone

This will be the first post about my advisor journey.

For my clients, or those that might be thinking of partnering with me, this will be a transparent look into my path as am advisor. I will never claim to know everything, but will always strive to do my best to serve my clients and guide them in their life and financial journeys. With that, sharing a bit about my own professional journey may give you an idea of whether working together is the right fit.

For other advisors or those thinking about starting their own firm, I hope my learnings can give you some perspective or make your path a bit shorter.

Starting as a solo financial advisor (with hopes to grow into a multi-advisor firm one day) does not mean I'm going it alone. I am incredibly grateful for the support, patience, and sounding board of my XYPN Mastermind Group.

For those unfamiliar, what is a Mastermind Group?

  • Peer Support: For me, a community of advisors in a similar stage and launching their own practices.
  • Accountability: Our meetings often start with sharing wins and close with things we want to accomplish before the next meeting.
  • Sounding Board: A trusted place to ask for advice on situations and challenges.
  • Best Practices: Sharing such topics as strategies, tool how-tos, and presentation techniques.

Most importantly, it's a source of moral support. I have found support for everything from "imposter syndrome" (yes, everyone feels this at some point!) to celebrating milestones. I am so fortunate to be matched with a group of diverse, kind individuals from across the country.

Whether an advisor or other professional, do you have a similar group that supports you?

To the friends / financial advisors in my group who are all working to support your clients better each day, Sarah Glass, Hardik Patel of Trusted Path Wealth Management, LLC, Shelton Lewis, Trevor Reece of Waypoint Financial Planning, and recent add, Vered Frank, CFP® of StackWealth, I'm so thankful for getting to know you all better this past year.  You have helped make my advisor journey more joyful.
